It all started when Dylan was 7 years old and Vibeke was 12. Dylan became good friends with Vibeke’s brother Josh. Vibeke came to visit for summer break. Dylan’s parents pulled up to the house where Vibeke was doing back flips in the front yard. Dylan immediately was in awe of Vibeke and he told her brother and cousin that night that he was going to marry her one day.
Over the next several years Vibeke and Dylan did several fun trips together with their mutual friends and family from camping to six flags. Dylan continued to tell Josh and Tim he planned to marry Vibeke one day.
While their journeys took them down different paths in life. They found one another years later through friendship once again.
Dylan decided to move across the country from East Tennessee to Reno, Nevada to start a new career in HVAC and pursue the girl he always knew was his forever. Josh always considered Dylan a brother so he fully supported the move. Josh joined this adventure by riding along side Dylan for 3 days, through a winter storm, towing a trailer, with two cats.
Vibeke agreed to not-date Dylan in the beginning. Concerned if it didn’t work out the fall out with the families could be detrimental. Taking it slow. They went to bocce ball with friends resorting to holding hands and flirting like kids.
Dylan began to show Vibeke the things that he loves, most importantly Disc golfing.
Vibeke began to show Dylan the things that she loves, most importantly snow sports.
Need I say more?
They both decided it was finally time they officially go on their first date. It was a large winter storm but they refused to let a little snow keep them inside.
It’s easy to be there through all of the fun times and adventures. But, it’s the day in and day out that shows the true tests of time. They both knew right away that this would work and last forever when they discovered that grocery shopping is one of their favorite past times.
This was the moment that Dylan popped the first BIG question…”Will you be my girlfriend?…”
She said, Yes.
There’s a reason that they decided to get married on a cruise ship. Not only are they able to invite all of their friends and family. They’re also able to travel in beautiful destinations with everyone as well as create forever memories that last a lifetime time.
And let me tell you, They will Travel and enjoy beautiful destinations for a life time. In fact, it’s what this union symbolizes. “live, laugh, love, rinse and repeat.”
The spot Dylan Chose to propose is the same spot that brought them back together. This is Vibeke’s favorite place in the US. This is the place that she can come when every thing is wrong in the world, just being here overlooking this meadow and this piece of the Truckee River. For a moment everything is okay and everything calms down. This is her safe space and this is her forever person.
